New version of the Online Voter Registration Service is now available

We are proud to announce that a new version of the Online Voter Registration Service is available on the Elections Canada website.

This new version was designed using the Web Experience Toolkit. The toolkit allows us to meet web accessibility standards and to easily adapt as the standards change. We have also implemented changes based on feedback from members of the Advisory Group for Disability Issues over the years.

We invite you to try the improved Online Voter Registration Service.

Frequently Asked Questions on the Development of the Canada Disability Benefit Regulations

The Canada Disability Benefit Act received Royal Assent on June 22, 2023. The goal of the Benefit is to reduce poverty and support the financial security of working-age persons with disabilities. As framework legislation, the details of the Benefit—such as eligibility and amount—will be set in future regulations.
In order to create regulations for the Canada Disability Benefit, there will be two new phases of engagement. The Government has already started Phase 1, which is the regulatory design phase. This was launched on August 23, 2023 through an Information Session.

UPR4: Engagement Activities With Equitas

We are pleased to inform you that Equitas will be spearheading engagement sessions with civil society organizations following Canada’s Fourth Universal Periodic Review (UPR4) taking place on November 10, 2023.
These engagement sessions are designed as a post-review initiative, aiming to actively involve you to inform decision making in the development of Canada's response to recommendations arising from the UPR4 process. The engagement sessions will take place in November and December 2023.

Leveraging its extensive expertise in human rights education, Equitas will guide these sessions, ultimately resulting in a comprehensive report derived from the invaluable insights gathered. This report will be presented to the Senior Officials Committee Responsible for Human Rights (SOCHR) as part of this collaborative effort to inform decision making by federal, provincial, and territorial governments on the recommendations that will be accepted by Canada.

Please anticipate forthcoming communication from Equitas (@equitas.org) regarding opportunities for your active participation in these pivotal sessions.
