SEEKING WHEELCHAIR USERS - "BET" Series Casting Call

Larissa Mair Casting & Associates is casting a new dramatic highschool thriller series and are looking for actors Canada Wide who use a wheelchair for one of the leads!

[TAYLOR] (18, Wheelchair User) Taylor is president of the Student Council and the true puppet master of the school. Tightly controlled and intelligent, Taylor has the ultimate poker face, presenting a calm and pleasantly neutral front. She rarely shows how she really feels. She is someone who observes everyone from above, and while she has many supporters and sycophants, she has very few friends. People are pieces for her to move on a ledger – they’re useful or they’re threats that need to be taken care of. Taylor is the daughter of a powerful oligarch (a Putin-like character) and is training to take over her family’s shadowy empire. All of her calculating, controlling, ruthless methods are her way of showing her father she is ready. The amount of pressure and expectation placed on her to be perfect is a cage. Underneath the mask is secretly a wild child, a girl who wanted to lash out and be free from consequences…LEAD

Dean, College of Engineering and Physical Sciences University of Guelph

The University of Guelph campuses reside on the treaty lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit and lands that the Anishinaabe, Hodinohso:ni, Lūnaapéewak and Wendat peoples have inhabited for centuries. We understand that these lands are connected by the Dish with One Spoon Wampum and continue to be home to diverse communities of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples. Acknowledging the land reminds us of our commitment to reconciliation with Indigenous peoples and lands.

The University of Guelph is one of Canada’s leading research-intensive comprehensive institutions, with a record of outstanding scholarship in the arts and humanities, business, social sciences, biological sciences, physical and engineering sciences, agriculture, and veterinary sciences. Its students, faculty, and staff pursue active inquiry and exercise creativity across a range of disciplines. With campuses in Guelph, Ridgetown, and Toronto (University of Guelph-Humber in partnership with Humber College), the U of G is home to nearly 27,000 undergraduate and over 3,000 graduate students, including over 1,400 international students from over 120 countries. With a strong focus on its new strategic plan, the University of Guelph’s vision is to strive for global excellence, strengthen the University’s commitment to Indigenization, equity, diversity, and inclusion, and reimagine the student experience.
Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President (Academic), the Dean of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences provides academic and administrative leadership to a diverse college of five departments and schools, consisting of Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics and Statistics, and Physics. The College is home to world-class research institutes, facilities and centres, and brings together leading scientists from around the world to solve some of society’s biggest challenges. The College is ambitious in its plans for strategic growth, including adding additional programs to the curriculum, and possibly re-structuring. The Dean encourages continued excellence in providing a comprehensive and interdisciplinary research and learning environment among faculty, staff and students, and unifies all members of the College around a shared vision.

The ideal candidate will possess a distinguished record of scholarship in a relevant discipline, several years of leadership in a university, and be eligible for appointment to the senior professorial ranks. Eligibility for licensure in Ontario as a professional engineer would be an asset. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to advancing equity, diversity, inclusivity, reconciliation, and accessibility, and effective management of human, financial, and physical infrastructure resources. Experience fostering innovative research and interdisciplinary collaboration and evidence of nurturing strong relationships is essential. An excellent communicator and decision-maker, the next Dean empowers the highly productive and committed group of faculty, staff, and students, and brings a track record of leading through complex change. They also bring significant experience building partnerships with government, industry, donors, and alumni.

At the University of Guelph, fostering a culture of inclusion is an institutional imperative. The University invites and encourages applications from all qualified individuals, including from groups that are traditionally underrepresented in employment, who may contribute to further diversification of the institution. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply, however applications from Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority.
The appointment, which is renewable, is for five years and is expected to take effect in the spring or summer of 2024. Consideration of candidates will begin in January 2024 and continue until the position is filled.
